  • Samidori Matcha by Yamamasa Koyamaen (30 gram tin or 100 gram bag)

Samidori Matcha from Yamamasa Koyamaen is the second in their principal lineup, just above Matsukaze.  While inexpensive, we think it's a good value matcha because it's got a well-balanced astringency and a nice sweetness.  Compared to the Matsukaze, this is a more approachable, softer matcha with an uplifting, refreshing taste.  Suitable for usucha (thin tea) and matcha lattes.

Yamamasa Koyamaen is a traditional and historic tea company based in Uji, Japan, founded in 1861. They are well regarded for maintaining very high standards for their raw material, processing, and stone milling, and have won first prize 22 times at Japan's National Tea Competition.

Choose between a 30 gram tin or a 100 gram bag.  A typical serving for usucha is 2 grams, while a typical serving for a matcha latte is 4 grams.
