  • Kasuga no Mukashi Matcha by Yamamasa Koyamaen

Kasuga no Mukashi matcha from Yamamasa Koyamaen is a phenomenal matcha known for its powerful umami and rich flavor profile. When prepared as thick tea (koicha), it begins with a distinctive creamy smoothness before expanding into an intense, full-bodied taste that lingers. As thin tea (usucha), it delivers a bold yet balanced character with a prominent sweetness and captivating aftertaste.

Yamamasa Koyamaen, established in 1861 in Uji, Japan, has earned 22 first-prize awards at Japan's National Tea Competition for their exceptional tea processing and stone-milling techniques. Each batch is produced in Kyoto Prefecture under strict quality standards.

A typical serving for usucha is 2 grams, while a typical serving for koicha or matcha latte serving is 4 grams.
