  • Fuji-kaori Japanese Black Tea from Fujieda

From Fujieda in Shizuoka Province, this Japanese black tea made from the Fuji-kaori cultivar is extremely juicy, sweet, and fragrant.  We get lots of fruit notes (peaches, plums, berries) with a nicely structured liquor.  Compared to our other Japanese black teas, this Fuji-kaori is slightly more of a classic black tea type due to its light astringency.  Overall it's a highly enjoyable, fruit-forward elegant black tea.

The Fuji-kaori cultivar is a cross between Yabukita and Izatsu 131. Primarily used in green tea production, Fuji-kaori is well-regarded for its flowery aromatics, which can be especially fragrant for teas that undergo an initial withering period (like black tea and oolong).
